About Us

History

The Headway Blackpool Wyre & Fylde branch was formed in  2011 when our, soon to be retiring, trustee’s son suffered a brain injury and was not able to travel the distance to Headway Preston. Seeing the unmet need for a place that brain injury survivors could meet in Blackpool the charity was formed.  Since our initial creation we have grown from strength to strength becoming an independent registered charity in 2014. The trustees for the charity now consist of the founder Ian Kendrick and two solicitors, Leanne Tattam and Katherine Smith. The committee is made up of individuals from a number of backgrounds including medicine, benefits, care work and brain injury survivors who are our “experts by experience”.

Our Aim

We provide support, social activities and information for people suffering from an acquired brain injury in the Blackpool, Wyre & Fylde areas.
