About Headway Blackpool, Wyre & Fylde

Brain injury can challenge every aspect of your life – walking, talking, thinking and feeling and the losses can be severe and permanent. It can mean losing both the life you once lived and the person you once were.

We’re a charity in Blackpool Wyre and Fylde who aims to provide information, support and social activities for people suffering from acquired brain injuries. We also aim to support carers, family and friends. Perhaps most importantly, we offer the chance to share experiences knowing that the group members understand some of the problems and difficulties that acquired brain injury brings.

We currently run drop in sessions twice a month on Tuesdays. For the dates please see the News & Events page.

We are a busy charity with a dedicated team of trustees and volunteers. We run many social activities and fundraising events, there is always lots going on!

We’d love to hear from you if you’d like to find out more about our work.

  • “I’m passionate about working with and for those with acquired brain injuries. The work that Headway Blackpool Wyre & Fylde does is massively important and very valuable to those out there in need of support, advice and a safe environment in which to share. I’ll be adding to the already excellent work being done by the current trustees, the wider team and the many volunteers.”

  • “Headway Blackpool Wyre & Fylde is a fun-loving charity which makes a real difference to the lives of brain injury survivors and their families, within the area.”

    Jonathan Young  Trustee & Director

  • “I first heard of Headway when a family member suffered a severe brain injury. The information and support provided was brilliant. I learnt more about the good work they do in my job as a Court of Protection Lawyer and wanted to help. When I was asked if I would be interested in becoming a Trustee of Headway Blackpool Wyre & Fylde I jumped at the chance!”
